Allegations

The complainants allege that the Government attempts to weaken the GPSU’s bargaining power through various acts, such as refusal to implement an agreement concerning arbitration over wages in the public service, denunciation of the Agency Shop Agreement, withdrawal of check-off facilities, dismissals of trade union officers and members, withdrawal of GPSU certification as majority union in the Guyana Forestry Commission, pressure on fire officers to quit the GPSU and closing down of the Guyana Energy Authority without consulting the GPSU which is the majority union
