Human Resources Development Convention, 1975 (No. 142) - Iraq (Ratification: 1978)

The Committee notes the statistical information contained in the 1985 annual report of the State Establishment for Labour and Vocational Training, communicated by the Government. It also takes note of Law No. 71 of 1987 enacting the Labour Code. It notes with interest that the new Labour Code attaches particular importance to vocational training with a view to providing skilled workers for the different sectors, lays down rules for vocational training and determines the relationship between the trainee and the establishment responsible for his or her training. With reference to its direct request concerning Convention No. 122, the Committee requests the Government to provide available copies of the reports on the activities of the bodies responsible for vocational training. Please provide also copies of the instructions issued in accordance with section 26 of the Labour Code, as well as information on training contracts (sections 27 and 28 of the Labour Code).

The Committee hopes that the Government's next report will also contain replies to the questions in the report form concerning the other aspects of the practical implementation of the Convention.
