Labour Statistics Convention, 1985 (No. 160) - Greece (Ratification: 1993)

The Committee notes the Government's first report and requests it to supply further information on the following points.

Article 3 of the Convention. The Committee draws the attention of the Government to the requirement that the representative organizations of employers and workers should be consulted in revision of the existing surveys or in the designing of a new one such as the new Structure of Earnings Survey, and requests it to include information in this regard in future reports.

Article 8. The Committee asks the Government to supply the published statistics, including detailed data (classified by industry, occupation and status) to the ILO in accordance with Article 5.

Article 9(1). Noting the existing statistics are compiled in conformity with the international standards, the Committee requests the Government to indicate the steps which are contemplated, if any, to extend their coverage to other branches of economic activity. Regarding the 1994 survey, it asks the Government to send to the ILO the results (Article 5) and the relevant methodological information (Article 6) as soon as practicable.

Article 9(2). The Committee requests the Government to state whether measures are taken or contemplated to compile and publish statistics of time-rates of wages and normal hours of work. If it is not the case, please indicate the reasons for not compiling them.

Article 10. The Committee notes that the Government intends to conduct a full-scale Structure of Earnings Survey within the framework of the European Union, and asks it to supply information in this regard.

Article 11. Noting that the Government is participating in the pilot survey for the preparation of the European Employment Cost Index, it requests it to supply information on the development in this regard.

Article 13. Please provide methodological information concerning both the 1987-88 and 1994 surveys in accordance with Article 6.

Article 14. Recalling that the statistics of occupational injuries should be representative of the country as a whole, the Committee asks the Government to supply more precise information on the scope and coverage of these statistics. It also requests the Government to supply further information on the following points: (i) up-to-date data with respect to fatal accidents (or persons fatally injured), the number of workdays lost from work accidents and the numbers of persons assured with the IKA (social security institution); (ii) data referred to under (i), classified by branch of economic activity; (iii) information on the compilation of statistics of occupational diseases; (iv) more precise information on the standards followed in accordance with Article 2; (v) information on consultation with employers' and workers' representatives under Article 3; and (vi) a detailed description of the sources, concepts, definitions and methodology (particularly reporting and data-collection procedures), which should also be published by the competent national authority in accordance with Article 6.

Article 15. The Committee requests the Government to provide the following information: (i) more precise information on the standards followed in accordance with Article 2; (ii) information on consultation with employers' and workers' representatives under Article 3; (iii) the published statistics, which should be sent to the ILO in accordance with Article 5; and (iv) a detailed description of methodology (particularly reporting and data-collection procedures, together with a copy of the notification form used), which should also be published by the competent national authority in accordance with Article 6.
