Convention concerning Statistics of Wages and Hours of Work, 1938 (No. 63) - Syrian Arab Republic (Ratification: 1960)

The Committee notes the information contained in the Government’s report, particularly in regard to the difficulties encountered by the Central Statistics Bureau in establishing, publishing and communicating statistics on average earnings and hours worked, in accordance with the provisions of Articles 5, 8 and 12 of the Convention.

The Committee also notes the statistics on average wages and hours of work in the construction sector and asks the Government to communicate the source of these statistics. In addition, it notes the statistics on the total wage and salary bill in the industrial sector but points out that these statistics are not usable as they do not correspond to averages per unit of time; the Committee requests the Government to indicate the source of this statistical data.
