The Committee notes that the Government’s report has not been received. It hopes that a report will be supplied for examination by the Committee at its next session and that it will contain full information on the matters raised in its previous comments, which read as follows:
With reference to its observation of 2000, the Committee would be grateful if the Government would provide regularly the information available on the measures taken to improve the skills of labour inspectors in relation to the supervision of child labour. The Committee also once again requests the Government to indicate the training formula adopted in the context of technical assistance for inspectors in agriculture, between specialization within the National Administration School of Madagascar (ENAM) or abroad, by granting a fellowship. The Committee notes the information to the effect that the draft revision of the 1995 Labour Code incorporates fully the provisions of Article 12 of the Convention concerning the powers of labour inspectors. It hopes that the new text will be adopted and that the Government will supply a copy to the ILO immediately. Finally, the Committee trusts that the annual inspection reports for 1995, 1996 and 1997 will shortly be supplied, as announced by the Government, and that in future such reports will be published and communicated to the ILO within the time limits laid down in Article 26.
