Contribution of the employment service to employment promotion. The Committee notes the Government’s report received in August 2009 in which it indicates the adoption of Decree No. 2040 of 2005 regulating the recruitment and employment of non-Syrian workers in the private and public sectors, in cooperatives and mixed economy companies. The Committee notes that, in accordance with section 14(1) and (2) of Decree No. 2040 of 2005, the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labour in each region is under the obligation to regularly provide to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour statistics on the number of work permits issued or renewed, detailed information on each non-Syrian Arab worker recruited by employment offices and information on Syrian workers registered with each Directorate of Social Affairs and Labour. The Committee invites the Government to furnish statistical information available in published annual or periodical reports concerning the number of public employment offices established, the number of applications for employment received, the number of vacancies notified and the number of persons placed in employment by such offices (Part IV of the report form).
