Employment Service Convention, 1948 (No. 88) - Tunisia (Ratification: 1968)

Article 1 of the Convention. Contribution of the employment service to employment promotion. In its report, the Government indicates that the Tunisian Employment and Self-employment Agency (ANETI) has a network consisting of 83 multiservice offices, ten offices for the employment of managerial staff and 16 “enterprise” centres. During 2014, ANETI received 691,969 applications for employment (including 555,354 re-registrations), 100,486 vacancies were notified and 71,096 training courses were offered, with 61,484 placements being made. In this regard, the Committee refers to its comments on the Employment Policy Convention, 1964 (No. 122). The Committee requests the Government to provide updated information on the manner in which the public employment service contributes to the best possible organization of the employment market as an integral part of the national programme for the achievement and maintenance of full employment and the development and use of productive resources. It also requests the Government to continue providing information on the number of public employment offices established, applications for employment received, vacancies notified and the number of persons placed in employment by ANETI.

Articles 4 and 5. Participation of the social partners. The Government indicates that the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment works in consultation and collaboration with the social partners for the design and implementation of employment and vocational training policies. The Committee requests the Government to continue providing detailed information on the manner in which employers’ and workers’ organizations are consulted on the organization and operation of the employment service and the development of employment service policy.
