Effect given to the recommendations of the Committee and the Governing Body

1. 16. At its March 2003 meeting the Committee noted the information provided by the Government, particularly with regard to the reinstatement of 28 workers of the Post and Telegraph Enterprise (dismissed along with 26 other workers following a strike in September 1997) and expressed the hope that the pending judicial proceedings would be concluded without delay [see 330th Report, paras. 18-20].
2. 17. In its communication dated 23 May 2003 the Government sent a chart detailing the status of the proceedings relating to the 54 dismissed workers which shows that, in the majority of cases, the judicial authority ordered the reinstatement of the dismissed workers and only refused reinstatement in a limited number of cases.
3. 18. The Committee notes this information with interest.
