The Committee notes with regret that the Government’s report has not been received. It hopes that a report will be supplied for examination by the Committee at its next session and that it will contain full information on the matters raised in its previous direct request, which reads as follows:

The Committee notes the information supplied by the Government in reply to its previous comments and, particularly, the indications regarding consultations with the representative organizations of workers and employers (Article 5 of the Convention).

Article 2.  The Committee notes the indications in the report on the national policy on vocational rehabilitation and the social measures taken for disabled persons under that policy. The Committee would be grateful if the Government would continue to supply information concerning the formulation and implementation of the national policy. Please also indicate the manner in which the policy is reviewed periodically pursuant to this Article of the Convention.

Article 7.  In its previous comments, the Committee noted from the Government’s first report that disabled persons may register with the National Office for the Promotion of Employment (ONPE) and benefit from employment services without discrimination. The Government indicates in its reply to the Committee’s comments that structures have been set up for adaptation and the promotion of disabled persons. The Committee would be grateful if the Government would describe in greater detail the measures taken with a view to providing and evaluating services for vocational guidance, vocational training, placement, employment and other related services for disabled persons. Please also indicate whether existing services for workers generally are used with the necessary adaptation wherever this is possible and appropriate.

Article 8.  In its previous comments, the Committee noted the information concerning the activities of the vocational rehabilitation associations and centres which have sections in the provinces. It asked the Government to indicate the measures taken to promote the establishment and development of employment services for disabled persons in rural areas and remote communities, in accordance with this Article. The Committee notes that the Government’s report contains no new information in reply to its comments. It hopes that in its next report the Government will not fail to supply the information requested.

Part V of the report form.  Please also supply general information on the manner in which the Convention is applied by giving, for example, statistics and extracts from reports, studies or inquiries on the matters covered by the Convention.
