Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Disabled Persons) Convention, 1983 (No. 159) - Greece (Ratification: 1985)

The Committee notes that the Governments report has not been received. It hopes that a report will be supplied for examination by the Committee at its next session and that it will contain full information on the matters raised in its previous direct request, which read as follows:

Article 5 of the Convention. The Committee takes note of the provisions of Law No. 1648, which provide that a representative of the disabled shall sit on the committees of the Ministry of Labour. However, the Government states in its report that, despite all efforts in the area of decision-making, employers' and workers' organisations do not participate actively. The Committee would be grateful if the Government would supply information on the consultation procedures in the committees established by Law No. 1648 and on any measure taken or contemplated to ensure consultations with representative organisations of employers and workers, in order to give effect to this Article.

Article 7. The Committee would be grateful if the Government would provide additional information on the measures taken to evaluate the special services provided for disabled persons, as well as practical indications on the use of existing services for workers generally, with the necessary adaptations.

Article 8. The Committee takes note of the general information on the number of special offices for vocational rehabilitation and the measures taken to cover the needs of a greater number of disabled persons throughout the territory. However, it would be grateful if the Government would supply additional information to facilitate a better evaluation of the scope of the measures taken to promote vocational rehabilitation services "in rural areas and remote communities".

Point V of the report form. Please provide general information on the manner in which practical effect is given to the Convention, for example by furnishing relevant extracts from the reports of the committees set up by Law No. 1648 or any other information concerning the implementation of this Law by the Manpower Employment Office.
