The Committee notes the Government's first report with interest. It requests the Government to furnish the following points in order for it to examine the application of the Convention in more detail:

Article 9 of the Convention. The Committee notes the legislation supplied by the Government. It notes that the sixth General Merchant Shipping Agreement of 17 July 1986 was considered by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security as an agreement of limited effectiveness since it has not been signed by all representative unions in the sector. The Committee would be grateful if the Government would indicate whether any other agreements apply to workers in the shipping sector which are relevant to the application of the Convention and, if so, to provide copies of them.

Part V of the report form. The Committee asks the Government to provide general indications on the way in which the Convention is applied, including particulars of the number of seafarers covered by the measures giving effect to it and what percentage of them are covered by the above-mentioned General Agreement, and of the way in which repatriation is generally conducted in practice.
