Display in: French - SpanishView all

Articles 1(1), 2(1) and 25 of the Convention. Action to prevent trafficking in persons. The Committee notes the information provided by the Government on the measures taken to prevent trafficking in persons. The Committee takes due note of the establishment in 2023 of an Inter-ministerial Task Force to address human smuggling and trafficking, which includes the Labour Inspectorate and other relevant entities. The Government indicates that the labour inspectorate primarily serves as a signalling function with respect to specific human trafficking activities and has integrated inquiries pertaining to forced labour and trafficking in persons in its operational protocols. The Committee requests the Government to continue to provide information on the measures taken to prevent the occurrence of cases of forced labour and trafficking in persons in Sint Maarten, to protect victims and to ensure the proper identification and prosecution of any such cases.
