Article 2(2)(c) of the Convention. Prison labour. The Committee notes that section 52 of the Prisons Act, 2003, provides that every convicted prisoner shall be deployed in one of the labour units, inside and outside the prison, and that they may also be deployed in hard or light labour. The section also provides that regulations shall specify the types of hard and light labour. The Committee requests the Government to provide information on the work carried out by convicted prisoners, indicating whether they may perform labour for private entities and if so, under what conditions. The Committee also requests the Government to indicate whether regulations have been adopted pursuant to section 52 of the Prisons Act of 2003 and, if so, to provide a copy of these regulations.
