Direct Request (CEACR) - adopted 2024, published 113rd ILC session (2025)

Application of the Convention in practice.Noting the lack of information in the Government’s report in this regard, the Committee requests the Government to provide the available statistical information on practical application indicated in the report form of the Convention, such as the number of foreign workers in the national territory, their nationality, their occupational distribution, and the number and nature of work-related accidents reported concerning these workers.

The Committee notes the Government’s report, received in May 2012. The Committee notes that the consolidated version of the National Insurance and Social Security Act (Chapter 36:01) and the National Insurance and Social Security (Industrial Benefit) Regulations requested in its previous comments have not been received by the Office. The Committee again asks the Government to supply these texts with its next report. Moreover, noting that no statistical information is available on the number of foreign workers employed in the country and the payments of employment injury benefits to beneficiaries residing outside Guyana, the Committee requests the Government to take measures with a view to collecting such information and communicate it with its next report.
