Prevention of Major Industrial Accidents Convention, 1993 (No. 174) - Lebanon (Ratification: 2005)

The Committee notes with regret that the Government’s report has not been received. It hopes that the next report will contain full information on the matters raised in its previous comments.

Repetition

The Committee requests the Government to undertake a comprehensive review of its application of the Convention in consultation with the most representative organizations of employers and workers with the purpose of formulating, implementing and periodically reviewing a coherent national policy concerning the protection of workers, the public and the environment against the risk of major accidents and to ensure a full application of the Convention. The Committee also reminds the Government of the possibility to seek technical assistance from the Office to assist it in this process.

Application in practice. The Committee also asks the Government to give a general appreciation of the manner in which the Convention is applied in the country, to the extent that such information would be available, and to attach extracts from inspection reports and, where such statistics exist, the number and nature of the contraventions reported; the number, nature of infringements reported, etc.
