Direct Request (CEACR) - adopted 2002, published 91st ILC session (2003)

Further to its previous comments, the Committee notes from the Government’s report that the Use of Working Equipment Regulations (No. 608) were adopted on 26 June 1998, and implement Council Directive 89/655/EEC. The Committee also notes that the Machinery Regulations (No. 820 of 19 August 1994) have been revised and amendments were adopted on 14 January 1998, and that the Regulations were accordingly in conformity with Council Directive 98/EEC which amalgamated Council Directives 89/392/EEC, 91/368/EEC and 93/568/EEC. Please provide a copy of the Regulations (No. 820 of 19 August 1994) as revised and amended on 14 January 1998.

The Committee takes note of the information provided in the Government's latest report as well as of the comments of the Confederation of Trade Unions (LO).

The Committee notes from the report that proposals of a revised regulation regarding machinery and of a regulation regarding the use of technical appliances and working equipment are being dealt with by the Ministry of Local Government and Labour for final decision. In this respect, the Committee notes the suggestion made by the Confederation of Trade Unions and addressed to the Government to submit a new report after the ongoing work on the regulations, aiming the implementation of EU directives, has been completed.

The Committee requests the Government to supply a copy of these texts in question once they have been adopted.
