The Committee notes with deep concern that, the first report on the application of the Minimum Age Convention, 1973 (No. 138), due since 2021, has not been received. The Committee also notes that two reports were received this year of the nine requested. Seven reports are still due for this country including on fundamental Conventions, some of which should have included information in reply to the Committee’s comments.
The Committee launches an urgent appeal to the Government to send its first report on Convention No. 138 without delay and advises it that, even in the absence of this report, the Committee may fully review the application of this Convention at its next meeting on the basis of available information.
Recalling that technical assistance was provided on these issues this year by the ILO Country Office for Pacific Island Countries, the Committee firmly hopes that the Government will soon submit all its reports in accordance with its constitutional obligation and that they will respond to the Committee’s comments.
