Convention (n° 131) sur la fixation des salaires minima, 1970 - Antigua-et-Barbuda (Ratification: 2002)

Article 2(1) of the Convention. Sanctions for non-payment of the national minimum wage. Further to its previous comments regarding sanctions for the non-payment of minimum wages, the Committee notes that in its report, the Government indicates that no new measures on sanctions have been adopted. The Committee wishes to emphasize the importance of sanctions in ensuring compliance with minimum wages. The Committee once more requests the Government to indicate the measures adopted or envisaged in order to ensure that the monetary sanctions for the non-payment of the national minimum wage are effective and dissuasive. The Committee also refers to its comments on this issue under Convention No. 81.
