In order to provide a comprehensive view of the issues relating to the application of ratified Conventions on equality, the Committee considers it appropriate to examine the Conventions Nos 100 (equal remuneration) and 111 (discrimination in employment and occupation) together.

Convention No. 111 – National policy to promote equality of opportunity and treatment in respect of employment and occupation

Articles 1 to 3. National policy on equality of opportunity and treatment in respect of employment and occupation. The Committee notes the information communicated by the Government in response to its previous comments regarding the application of Basic Act No. 2017-58 of 11 August 2017, with respect to the elimination of violence against women, and the situation of girls and women in rural areas.
The Berber population. Following its previous request regarding measures taken in favour of the Berber population to ensure equal opportunity and treatment in the labour market, the Committee notes the Government’s indication that citizens of Amazighe origin benefit from active employment programmes and have access to vocational training without discrimination.
Persons with disabilities. The Committee notes the information provided by the Government in response to its previous comments on the measures taken in application of Act No. 2005-83 on the promotion and protection of persons with disabilities, as amended in 2016.

Convention No. 100 – Principle of equal remuneration for men and women for work of equal value

Articles 1 to 4. Gender wage gap. Further to its previous comments on the importance of pertinent statistical data, the Committee notes with regret that the Government provides no information in this regard. It therefore requests the Government to take the necessary measures to collect and analyse statistical data on the distribution of men and women in the different economic sectors, occupations and jobs, and on their levels of remuneration, so as to identify gender wage gaps and take the necessary measures to eliminate them.
Enforcement. Further to its previous requests, the Committee notes the information communicated by the Government, in particular regarding the increase in inspection visits in the agricultural sector and the continuous training provided to persons responsible for enforcement.
