The Committee notes that, in reply to its previous comment, the Government indicates that, following discussions with the Seychelles Federation of Workers’ Union (SFWU) and the Apostleship of the Sea (AOS), the Seychelles Maritime Safety Administration (SMSA) has decided to undertake research on the Seafarers’ Identity Documents Convention (Revised), 2003, as amended (No. 185), as a step towards initiating its ratification. The Committee welcomes this information and requests the Government to provide information on any developments in this regard.
Articles 5 and 6 of the Convention. Readmission to territory and right to enter territory. In reply to its previous comments, the Committee notes the Government’s indication that the SMSA has a plan of action to amend the Merchant Shipping Act 1994 (Cap. 127 A) and will take the Committee’s comments into consideration. The Committee requests the Government to adopt the necessary measures to implement Articles 5 and 6.
